For participating in the Oral and Poster presentation, the interested participants will have to submit an abstract of their project by 20TH APRIL 2010 , compliant with the regulations as mentioned below.
The abstracts will be rated on the following criteria and the first ( ) oral presentation and the next ( ) will be selected for poster presentation.
o Innovativeness of idea
o Methodology
o Analysis and Interpretation of the results
o Implications of the study
o Fallacies/Biases and whether they have been addressed
o Quality of the writing of the abstract
You will have to mention whether Institutional Ethical Clearance was obtained for the study and are advised to keep a copy of the same ready. If needed, we may ask you to send us a copy of this. If human subjects were involved, it is recommended that you keep a copy of the Informed Consent form(s) at ready as well. You do not need to send these forms with the abstracts but if required by the reviewers, you may have to provide them.
WRITING THE ABSTRACT
The abstract should be written within 400 words and should be a structured one. It has to be written under the following heads:
o Introduction: A short sentence to introduce your idea to the readers
o Aims and Objectives: What your study is aimed at achieving.
o Methodology: Mention how you have gone about the study, any special techniques, statistical methods, other relevant information pertaining to the methods of executing the study.
o Results: Mention the results that you have found in the study, incorporating the most important findings, both positive and negative, as applicable.
o Discussion: This is the section where the results are analyzed and the inferences drawn
o Conclusion: Summing up, this section tells the reader what the study added to the corpus of existing medical knowledge.
o Keywords: Mention at least three MeSH terms that might be used to identify the topic of your abstract. You may mention a maximum of seven keywords, of
which at least three have to be MeSH terms. The abstract will be sent out for external, blinded review to specialists based on the keywords, so take care when choosing them.
The abstract should be submitted in two pages. It should be typed out in Arial, font size 11 for paragraph/text body and the headlines should be made bold in the main body of the abstract.
The participants whose abstracts are selected for oral or poster presentation will be intimated by email by 15th April. Those participants whose submissions are rejected shall not receive personal intimation. However, we will try to send them the comments made by the reviewers so that they can use it as a learning curve. But SILHOUETTE 2010 OC does not make any commitment towards this end at present.

The abstract shall be sent by registered post or you can email at abstracts.silhouette2010@gmail.com. The organizing committee is not responsible if the abstracts do not reach us on time.
